What Family Portraits Mean To Me

Have you ever had one of those moments where you take a step back and look at your son or daughter, and think “What?! When did this happen?!”

When did he get taller than me?

When did she stop needing me to tie her shoes?

When did my little baby stop being a baby?

We all have, right?

We’ve all heard the same old cliché more times than we can count, “They grow up so fast.” And it’s an over-used cliché for a reason. It’s 100% true.

When I look at my 12-year-old daughter. It feels like she was a chubby-cheeked toddler just a few minutes ago and a lifetime ago, all at the same time.

And still I know that my sweet girl will be a beautiful woman before I know it. And this moment in time will be a memory, just like those toddler years.

Someday when she becomes that beautiful woman, I want to look back on her childhood. I want to remember the fun we had together, the times she made me laugh, and the times she melted my heart. And I hope she’ll have those same memories.

When I think about why I chose to focus my photography on families, I realize it’s because I want that for you too.

I want to give your family something to help you relive these moments when they become just memories.

When you look at a photo of yourself and your loved ones, you don’t only remember when it was taken. You feel that moment again.

You almost hear the laughter or smell the air. You remember the feeling of that moment.

Nothing does that like a photograph.

And no memories are as special as the ones we create with our families.
